It conducts high-quality, scientifically rigorous and impartial research in field ornithology. BTO has been working with us on improving biodiversity in peas since 1999, and have done extensive work on bird populations in pea crops, enhancing breeding success of lapwings and other ground nesting birds and developing bird friendly management guidelines for pea farmers. Communicating with farmers effectively is a vital part of more sustainable strategies. Bishop Burton College in Yorkshire and Easton College in Norfolk have provided essential expertise to enable better communication as well as effective training and development approaches for farmers.
Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group (FWAG)
The Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group (FWAG) is the UK's only independent and dedicated provider of environmental and conservation advice and consultancy to farmers. FWAG have been working with the Forum over the last three years to help all the farmers to develop whole farm environmental action plans through a programme of on farm training visits.
